Dr. Marsha Nunley, MD
Dr. Marsha Nunley is a Texas native who moved to California in 2000. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and currently practices Age Management Medicine. She specializes in the use of bio identical hormones for aging men and women struggling with perimenopause, menopause, andropause and all the attendant symptoms including depression, apathy, fatigue, weight gain, abnormal periods, and loss of mental sharpness. She also manages a successful weight loss program and is an expert in healing the intestine that is damaged by our highly processed standard American diet.
Dr. Nunley received her medical degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is also board certified in Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care Medicine. She has completed certification in Age Management Medicine through Cenegenics Institute and the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (A4M). Following her move to California in 2000, Dr. Nunley became interested in alternative medicine. Through the Associate Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, she has explored the benefits of mind-body medicine, chiropractics, acupuncture, homeopathy, craniosacral therapy, hypnotherapy, and energy healing. |
Because of her own personal health issues, Dr. Nunley was drawn to Functional Medicine because it moves beyond the traditional approach of diagnosis/disease-based medicine. Several years ago, she was dealing with chronic issues that neither she nor her traditional doctor could fix. She wanted to be cured, to feel healthy, vibrant and alive again. Unfortunately, what she learned is that physicians like her who are trained in a certain model may not be aware of or willing to utilize all the tools available for healing. Traditional medicine focuses on the diagnosis of disease and then drugs and surgery to treat that disease. This approach fosters the science of disease rather than the science of health. It ignores the basic biochemistry and innate wisdom of the body that can return us to health. Medications may be necessary and may mask symptoms, but can contribute to and even cause disease. To heal herself, Dr. Nunley found that revamping her diet, removing toxins, adding missing nutrients, balancing her hormones, keeping a regular exercise regimen, building a healing support system and exploring a spiritual connection allowed her to discontinue medication and led to profound healing.
